Friday Flickr Photo Critique #009 – Film Edition

This photo set really stood out because Anthony has a great eye for street photography while using his Zorki, an antique Russian fully-manual rangefinder film camera. Superb compositions and silvery tones with a keen eye for details and layers in the cityscape take you on a timeless journey to the streets of Tokyo.

I selected this set because it opens the discussion about using an antique, fully-manual camera to do street photography. There are no automatic settings of any kind – from focusing to metering, it’s all manual and Anthony does a great job capturing streetshots of the Tokyo streets. I give him props for his great eye for not only seeing moments with people, but for his attention to detail in his framing.

I was quite impressed with Anthony’s photoset and am only offering my opinion and insights which at times may seem harsh, but are honest and full of encouragement, so great job Anthony and keep up the good work!
