In this video I share my thoughts on the Zeiss 55mm f/1.4 Otus Distagon T* Lens for Canon EF (Manual Focus). This is a very pricey lens, and I talk about my experience trying it out to see if it’s worth the hefty price tag.
This lens is tack sharp with almost no distortion or chromatic aberration. With this lens, I’m able to pull detail out of photos that I didn’t think possible. And I’m able to shoot wide open at f/1.4 and get tack sharp images.
The light fall off and incredible focus with this lens is reminiscent of the look and feel I got with my medium format camera system. The only catch, and it’s a big one, is that this lens is fully manual focus.
So is the $4000 price tag worth it? I share my conclusions in this video.
